Nutriberries

So the pretty chicken gets a few pellets every few days, usually to keep her occupied on her play stand. They are not really a necessity, since she gets a balanced diet of veggies, her fruits, and the occasional nut or pumpkin seed as a treat. So pellets for her are more of a treat at this point anyway. Just a little on her normal diet, so maybe it will help with my question.

I have been giving her mazuri pellets, because that is what she was given at the rescue, and I wanted to start her here with what she was used to. However, I want to "upgrade" to a better quality pellet for when she does get them. I was going to buy Roudybush, but when I was at the pet store tonight, I decided to grab Nutriberries instead. I have seen quite a few of you say that you like the Nutriberries, and they seem like something the chicken would like. I am just wondering if they are going to be okay for her, considering they have quite a bit of seed in them, and Ekkies are piggies with problems with high fat diets. I just don't know how much seed they really have, compared to a standard pellet.

For those of you with Ekkies, do you think it would be something that she could have on a more regular basis? Not an entire meal, but one or two every day? Like I said, she normally only gets a few pellets every couple days, because I would rather her eat her fresh food, and I feel she eats enough variety that she doesn't necessarily need them constantly, just an occasional "in case she missed something" boost.

I bought Nutriberries - Tsali thinks they are poison and they are the first things he plucks out of his food bowl and tosses on the floor vacuum will be so happy when they are all gone.

I'm thinking about just dumping the rest of them on the floor and sucking them up in one fell swoop. Not really - they have been around for a while so I think I will take them out to the "treat tree" the place where I put leftovers out for the critters roaming the woods around the farm.

I gave her one, and she are it with no problems. Then again, she will eat almost anything I hand her, so I got lucky there

My thoughts for what they are worth is if you do not need them ie Pretty Chicken eats well and that includes Pellets don't bother.

Mine would not eat Pellets to start with and they were a half way house, giving balanced nutrition, getting him used to pellets and including some seed. He will not eat the Parrot ones, think they are too hard only the cockateil ones. They also were useful as a treat/inducement.

They are fine. Parker gets a few a day or so.

My thought is not to add them on top of everything else she eat, but to replace the pellets she is currently eating with the nutriberries. I agree that she wouldn't need them in addition to everything else, they just seem like they would be "more engaging" and take her longer to eat than pellets.

Max went from loving them to hating them, and Salty ignores them unless I break them up into little pieces. Like most parrot foods, the makers claim they are all your bird needs, and like most owners we take that with a grain of salt.

Yea, that is not a major concern of mine, since I try to make sure that her chop, fruits, and treats meet most, if not all of her needs. It's more of just another "treat" that she can have for extra variety.

I also don't have to worry too much about her not liking them because she will eat almost everything, just like a dog. Except bananas and berries. They are evil.
