Gloria, BFA, adopted on Jan. 9, 2016 when she was 30 years old
. Her mom went to a nursing home.
Also have 2 cats (Rangerand Luna) and a 24 year old aquatic turtle, named Elvis.
I was in my local organic grocery today and found that they have a variety of raw nut butters. The only ingredients are raw nuts. They're very expensive, however. They did have little 1.15 oz squeeze packets to try so I got the raw almond and raw cashew butters. They were out of the sunflower one.

How often should I give this to my BFA? I figured that without the added junk these would be a good snack to share with her on a whole grain cracker.:green:

I'm sure Gloria will LOVE the nut butter!! :D I'd feed it sparingly though, especially since Amazons are somewhat prone to obesity, especially if you have a perch potato. :)

Zilla my OWA gets 1/2 of 1 pecan in the mornings. She's kind of a perch tater when I have to be in the office working so if she gets her pecan she doesn't get any nut butter that day, she gets dried peppers or fruit for her snacks, but if I know I want to share some nut butter for a snack later I don't give her the pecan half and then she can have the nut butter with me.

I've started making her count points, like weight watchers...LOL if she has this she can't have that, if she flies this far then she can have that, if she perch taters all day then she doesn't get pasta with dinner! :D She thinks I'm a big meanie!

The seed mix Gloria has been on has almonds in the shell in it. I'm mixing the seed mix with pellets and trying to phase her off the seed. So I figured the nut butter would probably be an occasional treat instead of a daily thing. She sure loves scrambled eggs though. She ends up with them all over her beak. Fresh Broccoli too--little fronds hangin on her! LOL

I wish Zilla would eat broccoli...all she ever does is throw it out ASAP!!! She hates broccoli so much I can chase her with it and she runs & growls! :D

She does love some scrambled eggs, doesn't care for them hard boiled unless I let her have just the yellow, she throws the white.

Zilla still gets her seed mix, but only about a Tablespoon or so a day. The only pellets she even pretends to eat are Goldenfeast Golden Obles. She will eat a couple kinds of Nutri-Berries, but not others (yes she is picky!)

I would guestimate about 85 to 90% of her diet is pasta, rice, beans, veggies & fruits, with a few berries here and there.

Her all time favorite treat in the whole wide world of treats is those long skinny red dried peppers! They would make great training treats if it didn't take her 10 minutes to eat them...LOL
