Not enough light...

I don't think Yoshi gets enough light. My living room always seems dim to me and Yoshi is set up in the corner.

I'm thinking of maybe putting a floor lamp in the corner behind his cage. Or maybe a clip lamp. I don't know!

Does anyone have this particular lamp?

Or does anyone know of a reasonably priced taller floor lamp? My cage is pretty tall with the stand...maybe I should just go with a clamp.

I have a few of those lamps and they work wonderfully:)
I also use the bulbs in other lamps that are attached to the wall.
They make the light fixtures with clamps for reptiles and you could just get an avian bulb to go in it.

Love your cage, tielfan!

Tielfan, that's perfect! I was just about to ask if something like that would work. I can't find a lamp tall enough to go above my cage so my husband and I were just talking about hanging a lamp like that up. Thanks!

Edited to add....can you tell me how you got it to reach that far? Extension cord?

I had looked at that cage in your second link, and the shipping was almost $300 to here in Canada:(
I may have to just suck it up and do it though because my Pi would lOVE that!

Thank you so much! I checked it out, and there is a shipping and duty charge, but it's a lot better than the other place.
International Shipping: USD $139.60
Handling & Duties: USD $64.54

I should start saving:) thank you again for the link!

That is a great cage! I was happy with Yoshi's flight cage until I started looking at those! Lol! :)

Another quick light question... How long do you leave your lights on and what time of day?
Yoshi's schedule is as follows (Mon-Fri):
6am-6:30--- Yoshi out of cage for cuddles
6:30-7:45--- Yoshi in cage while I get ready for day
7:45-1pm--- Yoshi all alone. :( (should I leave radio on?)
1pm-2--- Lunchtime cuddles!
2-5pm--- Yoshi alone again. :(
5pm-bedtime--- In and out of cage a couple of times between making dinner and putting human kids to bed.

So which of those times would be best to have his light on? Would morning and evening be ok? I've heard it makes them more active and vocal and I'd like to be home for that. :)

Your cage talk is just fine with me! :) You've been very helpful so I have no complaints.

Yoshi is a 3 1/2 month old Quaker.

My husband just surprised me with a brooder lamp and extension cord! He read this post! Haha. :) Now all I need to find is the actual bulb.

Aww, you are a lucky girl with a hubby who reads the forum and surprises you!
I also apologize about the cage talk in the middle of your post:(
