Not eating much

Hello, my ten month old conure is not eating much food. She will eat her favorites such as sunflower seeds and peanuts but isn't eating her pellets much at all. Aside from that she is acting normal and moves around in her cage like always. She did lose two wing feathers in the past three days so I'm not sure if that has to do with anything? She might be starting a molt though.

Hi, is she filling up on the treats and not needing the pellets? You do not mention feeding fresh foods so:-

If you feel she is not being her normal self then please take her to an Avian Vet.

When you were worried about her a few days ago, did you take her to the vet?

If you keep seeing things that worry you, you really should get her checked out.

Try eating healthy things with her to get her to eat a little more.

Can you weigh her? Kitchen scale in grams, see if she is maintaining or losing weight. Good info to have for the vet, who will also weigh her.

I feed Harrison's, supplemented by fresh healthy treats. My first, and later, my current avian vet recommended it. 30-ish years ago, Harrison's was still a small company. My vet was actually able to talk to Dr. Harrison about my bird's species and status, and they decided on the High Potency. My bird loves the pellets now, but to get him converted, my avian vet suggested putting pellets out all day, and putting seeds (his old diet) out for two 15-minute periods a day. That would sustain him but leave him hungry enough to try new stuff. I presume the same technique could be used to get him to eat other healthy stuff. My guy was eating pellets in a couple of days, and now I can feed a good variety of other stuff, knowing he has the pellets as a basic.

Absolutely keep up with the weight of your bird. When appetites drop like that it can be an indicator of serious probems. I went to a food vendor/supply place and got a cheap set of scales. "Taylor" was the manufacturer... cost me about 40 bucks. My lil Booger (SC)will get on them without a perch.. so I could use it with my BFA I fashioned a stable perch on it using a pecan branch and a 6 inch 1/4" nut/bolt combo. Easy as pie. I weigh my birds weekly now. Also, in a pinch check the feel of the keel bone on their chest. You should just be able to feel the bone with plenty of muscle on each side. If there is any concave area on either side its time to rush to the vet. I was told by an avian specialist that a 5% drop in weight means time for a checkup. Got my fingers crossed your youngin is ok!.
