Normal vocalization?

So pretty bird is in its new cage, and loving it. And it's new toys. It's being extra vocal today since being moved into the new cage, and with the one shredding toy and was wondering if it was normal. Plus now my dogs taught it "the song of their people", so Everytime someone walks throythe door it begins doing it's little sqeaks and chrips along with the barking of my dogs. It also yells at you when you leave the room and when you respond it just begins to chrips back.

Sounds normal---Just be careful about responding to excessive vocalization when you leave the room. Yes, there are flock calls, but at the same time, you can't always be with your bird...Plus, not all calls are flock-calls.
So if you walk away and your bird makes a bunch of noise, do not respond to screaming etc. I never walk back in when my bird is engaging in obnoxious, attention-seeking behavior, as that just teaches her that she can get my attention through obnoxious means. That having been said, if I feel that it is a flock-call situation (and not demanding attention), I will often tell her where I am going and occasionally talk from the other room (so that she doesn't feel the need to call out).

I always ignore yells (unless they're a pained shout). Cairo's learned within a few weeks that squawking doesn't work. He's switched to an annoyed "Hello" or a rare whispered squawk. The only time he squawks now is when I come home and call his name, but he can't see me (it's only once and I know it's from surprise/alarm); which means, human has now learned not to call his name until in his line of vision.

It took a few weeks. We started with ignoring all squawks and responding to all hellos (his first and most confident word). Every single hello. It sounded crazy!

Cairo: "HELLO!"
Humans: "Hello..."

But it reinforced the idea that squawks get nothing, but hellos get attention. Then once he started using less squawks and expanding his vocabulary, we don't respond to every single hello. We make sure to respond to Hello flock calls, but the calls for constant attention aren't always responded to (we want him to learn to not be a velcro bird lord). He gets it roughly - he'll entertain himself with his toys or practice new words (and new words gets him a lot of attention!).

Your bird sounds normal. I like it when my birds make little chirpy noises and wish they would do it more often. I also kind of enjoy their screaming at times especially big they're excited to see me and my husband. I guess I'm a special case. Lol.

My Pineapple does the same things. When he hears me come home, he becomes vocal. If I don't greet him within a few minutes, he chirps loudly as, "hey, I know you're home, where are you?"

When I walk into the room, he gets very active (like a puppy). If I need to leave the house, I will put the radio in for him. He knows this and I get a type of sad, lonely chirp that makes me feel guilty. But I also know that he entertains himself, happily, while I'm away.

My GCC has a similar behavior. I lernt him a few words and now when someone leaves the hause, he sadly squawks and tells 'bye bye'. But when someone walks into the room and he is happy, he tells 'Hello! Hello!...' (like Cairo ) He sometimes can't stop tell it
