When's the normal time of year in the Northern USA for an Amazon to molt?
I've got some feathers showing up in the cage, so I'm just checking.
Thanks

Sorry I don't know if there is a specific time.

In the wild there may be, but from my own very limited experience it seems that molts come rather randomly in captive birds. In fact Auggie is just finishing a significant molt now. (Also a bird from South America now living in North America.)

I don't know what the normal time is supposed to be but when we got Tumbala (Sun-Conure) in July I think he was just finishing a molt. He is now showering me with fethers daily and has lots of new one coming in. Makes it hard to scratch his little head sometimes. :D We live in Michigan and it's really cold right now. :orange:

Boo is doing a major molt right now. New pin feathers coming in all over his head when I scratch, and lots of shed feathers in and around his cage.

Thanks.
It looks like it varies for Amazons.
For falcons it's at the beginning of late spring/summer.
Thanks agian,
Gos
