Noise difference when your bird has a friend?

I currently have a green cheek and he's pretty quiet. I really want to get him a friend but I'm concerned about the noise the other conure will bring. I know it depends on the bird (i plan on getting another green cheek), but I'd like to hear some experiences of how much louder your birds got when you went from 1 to 2.

Thanks

My Jenday was always a really quiet bird until I added my Sun Conure. She constantly made noise and my Jenday gladly joined in. Now that my Sun is gone, my Jenday went back to being quiet so I guess it depends on your bird and their personality.

They will feed off each other's calls and respond. I had a solo blue crown that was noisy but was still within the edge of reason. Another blue crown kind of fell into my lap as a rescue. The noise level went up 4 to 5 times. And higher volume too. It does get to be a annoyance occasionally but I'm content with it most of the time. The 2nd blue crown is a quieter bird. Most of his sounding off is responding to the 1st one squawking. On his own I think he would be very quiet in comparison.

I thought my cherry head was loud and noisy.... then I got a mitred and learned the true definition of LOUD AND NOISY!!!!!!!!!!!!

The cherry heads noise levels never did increase, but it hasn't been quiet since I got my mitred!

Noel, cherry head, is now gone.... and I have Charlie, mitred, and Jayde, red throat. And yes, once again, it has gotten louder!

Instead of having one conure call for me, I now have two! Sometimes, I hear only one screaming and the other is quiet. Other times, both are screaming!

It probably doesn't help that they can see outside a window when people and cars go by and I literally can't move them out of site of said people and cars! I could move them to another room, but they'd have the same view! In other words, I can't place them in a location where they wouldn't have a view of the street, regardless of the kind of rearranging that I did.

I have your specific situation.

I had a green cheek separate from a blue crown - and then put them together.

They were both absolutely silent birds until I placed them together - and then I never heard such a happy din go up from the both of them.

Don't get me wrong, I love the sound of birds - but god help me if i lived in a household that didn't appreciate the noise level - because Ziggy's the quietest BCC ever in existence, and GCC's are normally silent (as a general rule) - mix and combine: I now have a three-ring circus.

:)

Birds naturally feed off each other, and use the sound to amuse, talk to, and tell each other things that we don't always understand. My GCC is a baby, and tells the older one that he's terrified of the dark - the older one gladly "sings" him to sleep. Lesson learned, your noise level will almost assuredly go up. But hey, isn't that a good thing?

I have a YSGCC and a Fiery-Shoulder Conure that are together. For the most part this has worked out well because they have a constant companion. However, there are those times when things get loud!!! At least once a day they both start screaming at the same time and it sounds like a car alarm on steroids!!! Usually all I have to do is tell them to be quiet and they will stop. When they stop I go over and give them attention. I NEVER approch the cage if they are screaming because I don't want them to think I will come running everytime they call ;)
