Hey guys, my green cheek conure screaming at night?? I personally think she does it cause she doesn't want to go to sleep but she will not let up. Any suggestions?

Perhaps you could give us a little more information...

Is this something new or has she always done this? If this is something new how long has it been going on?

Do you cover her cage at night?

What is the activity/noise level in the room she sleeps in?

Is this continual (as in all night with no letting up) or does she stop and then start again when she is disturbed?

Has she been to see a Certified Avian Vet?

I don’t know what you experience but I experience noise from my conure at night.

My conure’s cage is in our bedroom. We “try” to align our sleeping habits with the bird so as not to unduly disturb her at night. But as we need to use the restroom, or have snacks at night, we disturb her and she lets us know that she hears everything.

Merely walking by her cage to get to the restroom will earn us a quack-quack, sort of a duck sound, or a conure grumble. It’s as if she’s saying “I hear you so be quiet.”

Although we use headphones after we put the bird to bed and double cover her cage at night, my wife and I talking is another thing that triggers our conure to make noise, of an upset tone, as if to say “shut the hell up!”

But then when there is total quiet, within an hour or two of putting her to bed for the night, our conure makes her calling call sound. It’s the same sound she makes when we leave the room and she wants to know where we are. We answer her at night when she makes a calling call sound, telling her we’re right here, and everything is okay, and we’ll see her in the morning. Usually answering her once is enough to keep her quiet for the rest of the night, but occasionally we must do it twice. When I do it, I approach her cage and whisper to her and she’ll grind her beak while responding with a forgiving grumble.
