Aww what a cute little guy! Beautiful ( albeit scared looking ) eyes. Look at his clean little footsies! LOL, that will be fixed in short order. Don't rush him with training or socializing - go at his pace. Figure out what his very most favorite treat is and bribe, bribe, bribe him. The quickest way to any parrots heart is thru his stomach ( or crop ).

Those photos was taken the very next day that we had him . . Im going slow and so pleased with how much he has come on. Is he a pineapple would you say ? ..
Sunflower seeds he seems to adore.
As i was on here. Eating my lunch. He flew towards me and then changed his mind at last minute. . . Partly my fault. He took me by surprise. As we speak this is what hes doing. .. hes very vain lol

I hope we do come close i have wanted one for a very long time.. maybe it wasnt the best thing to do to get a untame bird who hates hands and people but i wouldnt part with him for anything.. just have to be patient and go at his pace.... mandy

If I were that beautiful, I'd be vain, too!

Welcome. Glad you found us!

Welcome to the world of conures. I have two-a green cheek & a sun. They are so fun. Just watch their body language. You'll get to know what makes them tick. :)

It's not as much untamed, as it is untrusting! When I first got my JoJo, he was terrified by hands! But that was because of the way he had lived for almost a year he was being groped in a pen by every single person that walked by so he was continually being molested! You just have to help him reassociate hands with pleasurable things!

Thank you. Flboy. Just finding what it is.but in the one week we have had him. Hes stepping up. Taking treats from a spoon. A d also telling me that he wants out of his cage. By sitting by the door . Lol. Today he was scared when i asked him to step up with a stuck inside his cage but i left him a few moments talked to him . Then he literally lept onto the stick... his character is well and truly starting to show.

Breakthrough!!!!! After a 20 minute wait. Arm gone to sleep and my fingers dead from being insert through the cage bars. My little boe boe took food from my fingers 3 times !!!!!! . I could have passed out with pride. . Well worth the wait and patience and the dead feeling in my arms .. will try it once a day only. . Omg so so happy .....mandy

Welcome to the forum! Congrats on your green cheek, he's very cute. He actually looks more like a cinnamon pineapple green cheek because of his head and face not having much red and being the light brown, maybe someone else can chime in here and help, but I'm putting my money on cinnamon pineapple! Either way he's very cute!

I have a male yellow-sided green cheek named Bowie, he's just a year old, and he sends his welcome!! Green Cheeks are wonderful little birds, very loving, snuggly, and comical! Bowie is nothing but a sweet, snuggly little clown! If you keep working with him daily you'll have him tame in no time, you're already making progress!

Congrats and welcome once again, and please feel free to ask any questions!

Bowie and Lita Quaker Parrot say hello!
