Hello. I'm new here and brand new to eclectuses (eclecti?). I have parrotlets who I adore and experience with macaws as my in-laws have two. I've wanted a bigger bird for a while now and have been researching what kind would be a good fit for my family. I was torn between a grey and an eclectus, but I've made my decision and put a deposit on a baby.

Here's the breeder's two boys as of yesterday:

So while I'm anxiously waiting for him to grow and wean, I've been reading your forum.

Thanks for looking! Please feel free to share advice.

Hello and welcome! Congratulations! Little feathered darlings, and they will grow up to be gorgeous adults. I would hate to have to choose only one.

Hi, thanks! I'm not sure how choosing will go. I'm planning on visiting in a couple of weeks (the breeder is only an hour away). I wonder if it will be like choosing a puppy, where they're all so adorable and you couldn't possibly choose wrong, but there's something about that one...

But maybe one will wean sooner and I won't have to choose. Can you tell I'm excited? Heh.

I've even bought a ridiculously expensive travel carrier for him that I'm excited about.

Welcome and congratulations on your new baby! Ekkies are so so gorgeous!

I would interact with them both and choose the one that chooses you. The one that wants to be with you/on you the most. Not necessarily the one that weans first, the one that seems to want to bond with you.

Hi and welcome! Congrats on your soon to be fid! They are so adorable!! I so want one of those carriers!! Keep us updated and keep the pics coming...

Thank you! I'm sure I'll have a preference after interacting with them. I got my parrotlets from the same breeder and they couldn't be more different.

Hi! These carriers look super cool and seem like a great way to travel with a bird. I'll let you know when I get it how I like it. I've ordered so much for him I think I'll be good friends with our ups driver (especially after the huge cage comes).

Its going to be a hard choice but Ekkies are fantastic birds. Whichever one you chose will be a fantastic pet. Truth is you will be delighted with whichever one you choose. Then again one of the babies may just choose you!
