My name is Jesse, and I'm a database administrator for the website 4petsusa.com. I want to begin adding products to our website that are bird-oriented, and I'd like to know some of the things that bird owners are looking for online. In particular, I'm looking at the following categories:
- Food
- Supplements/Treatments
- Toys
- Training aids

So, what products do you and your birds appreciate the most? Are there items that are difficult to find, or that are just a bit too pricey for you?

Also, I recently (within the last couple of weeks) became a cockatoo owner! Her name is Peaches, and she's a sulfur-crest. Peaches belonged to good friends of mine, so we've gotten to know each other, and bond, quite well over the last few years. Her "parents" don't have as much time for her between work and a two-year old, so I'm moving to take full responsibility for her feeding and care. I've been feeding her Exact parrot food, supplemented by fruit and sunflower seeds (and noodles and egg). What sort of large parrot foods have you guys had the best experience with? And what extra pointers do you have for caring for cockatoos in general? I try to bring Peaches out for about 2 hours/day (more on weekends) for pettings and wandering time, and I've been starting her on "click training".

Thanks for your feedback!

A warm welcome to you Jesse. We have lots of fantastic forum members from all over the world. I will check out your web site as it is new to me. I purchase most bird supplies from the internet. Because I work with Phoenix Landing org. I get a small discount on what I order. You might want to think about hooking up with the rescue organizations and do something like this also. Food/Treats: We are a Harrisons pellets user. The price for a 5 pound bag of high potency is so variable on most all web sites. The lowest I could find is on an avan enrichment site.
Treats are usually the dried fruits, nuts, (no sunflower seeds or peanuts) and I like the freeze dried meals as they are simple to fix if one is in a hurry. I make most toys but occasionally will purchase on line. Hope this helps.

We would love to see pics of your bird. For download instructions you can go to the technical forum.

Equipment replacement parts!!!! That's number one thing on my list that most other companies do not carry!!!! So in order to get another, you have to purchase the whole thing. I just want one part, not the whole 9 yards..... for example, the screw on stainless steel bowls on a bird stand.

do it yourself toy parts?? alot of nuts toys i re-cycle, so things like, rope/string, leather wooden/rubbery shapes be fab, oh and chains, i find i already have the clips etc from her older toys, and as always if the items do not cost the earth :) because nut is a destroyer of toys, so i have learnt through experience and wasting money, that most toys she will have no interest in

Pretty much all of it! My difficulty lies in that I am in Alaska and either they don't ship here or the shipping is cost prohibitive! I swear, you would think we were at the end of the world!!!
