I left a general message but wanted to share my grief - had to euthanize my middle-aged female Ekkie, Victoria, on Monday. I'm so terribly blue. Awaiting necropsy report and her cremains. I must have screwed up somewhere. She was a rescue from Best Friends, Kanab, Utah. I had her 14 years...

Welcome to the forums, @cm-marsh, but I'm so sorry for the awful loss that brought you here. Would you please allow me to move your post to our "Bereavements" sub-forum? That way our membership will more readily understand the subject of your post and can offer you their condolences. I offer you my condolences as well, there is very little more heart-breaking in my opinion than the loss of one of our beloved feather babies, and you have my prayers and my every sympathy.

Why do you think you screwed up? Birds get sick and sometimes they can't be cured. You had her for about 14 years and you still have her friend. We all do some things wrong but you couldn't have done that much wrong. Don't blame yourself. You gave her a forever home and obviously loved her. She knew that and was lucky for that.

My condolences, we all have lost a treasured parrot I think. Likely not your fault, parrots are delicate things and have a wide array of illness and stuff that are not apparent. I had one little BeeBee for 8 years that just... went one day. No outward signs nothing.

You gave this darling a loving home, and a caring send-off. 99.99999% of animals on Earth would be grateful. Thank you for sharing.
