Hi,

My name is Blanca and I live in Vermont. I am mom to a wonderful African Grey named Quincy. I've had him since he was 3 months old. He just turned 13 on March 27th. He is officially my first child. About 3 years after adopting him I got married and had kids. So he has to siblings named Morgan (age 6) and Marcus (age 3). Quincy has gone through a lot of change the last several years with me getting married and having kids. So we've had our ups and downs with taking care of his social needs. But things are better and he is a huge part of our family!

I discovered your forum by searching online. What prompted me was I have an opportunity to adopt a 19 year old Green Winged Macaw named Sinbad (female) and I wanted to get some advice. So far everyone has been great and I have appreciated all the great tips and advice I have received so far!

When I have time I will update my profile pic with Quincy's picture and try to get a little more involved. Thanks for having me! I look forward to getting to know everyone and their bird buddies! :D

I go on Tuesday to meet the GW. I'm hopeful that the visit will go well and we will decide to adopt him for sure. We are excited but nervous at the same time. Thanks for the welcome!

Copperarabian - I'm hoping we have a good connection. I know she will be afraid of me but I'm hopeful that with a soft voice, maybe a treat and some patience we can get off to a good start and have a great relationship!

Welcome to our wonderful forum
Looking forward to seeing pic's of Quincy's and your new additions.
Enjoy the forum

Thanks Critterman! I'm hoping it works out, too!

Hello Blanca,

You are from Vermont?! I love Vermont, and miss it dearly. I used to live there, and went to the University of Vermont, I have degrees in Music and Botany from UVM. For awhile I taught at UVM, Middlebury College, and Johnson State college. I lived in Troy Vermont (near Newort VT). My niece Jeanne Marie lives in Harwick. Currently I live in South Texas, right on the border with Mexico. I am soon going to have a lilac crowned Amazon.

Hey Blanca , welcome to the forum, i can tell your a bird person, you'll fit right in.

WJ - I live in the Middlebury area! Cornwall to be exact. Such a small world! I own the largest candy store in Vt. So if you ever come back, come see me at the store!
Quincy comes with me to the store several times a week!

Henpecked - Thank you so much! I feel like I fit in already! :)

WJ - That would be great! It would be really cool to meet someone from the forum at my store! :)

By the way, we are adopting Sinbad and will be picking her up next week! I've included a picture of her below.
