Kiwi Severe McCaw
Hi, I have a 13 year old severe mccaw I need to rehome. (not sexed will call she) I have COPD and am going to be listed for a lung transplant, and unfortunately cant keep Kiwi

Although Kiwi can be very affectionate and lovable if she likes you, she can also run across the floor to attack you if she doesn't like you. She also can be a screamer. Although I believe at some times she is simply calling out, as she will quiet down or change to talking if answered, and other times I think she is frustrated as I have not been able to give her the time and attention she needs.

I do not want her to go to a breeder or hoarder.

I forgot to mention we live in Fredericksburg, Va. I am the original owner of Kiwi. [FONT=&quot]

If you cannot find a home for Kiwi I know Phoenix Landing is very active in Va. How it works is that you fill out a surrender form on the web site and on that form you should explain your reasons. If it is an emergency which this well may be please note that on the form. They will then contact you. It is a fantastic organization. They will vet the bird and place in a foster home until a suitable adoption can be found. They also screen the adopters well and make visits to the home to be sure it is a good place with good people. Wish you all the best with the transplant.

I have already contacted Phoenix Landing in the middle of December. They responded they do not have a home or foster home for her at this time, and a waiting list.

I will however recontact them and let them know that this is an emergency, as I would want to make sure she is somewhere safe where she can be happy before I had my operation

I would of taken Kiwi in since I've got a blue & gold macaw. But your quite a ways away... im all the way in Nashville, TN.
