Hi all, I recently purchased a 3 month old CAG with no idea how demanding they could be. Thankfully, he is very accepting and affectionate. He really enjoys physical contact and nibbles and does not bite. Hopefully we will learn together especially with all the tips and advice available on this forum🤗🤗

Welcome to the forums! Congratulations on your new addition! We'd love to see photos. Have you named him?

Welcome! CAGs are great and the older he gets the easier it is as far as his dependency on you. The CAG forum has great information.

Welcome! Greys in general, are awesome pets! :D

Had him for a fortnight now and have enjoyed every moment. He mouths rather than bites unless he gets a fingernail which he bites into with gusto. Why? Cardboard tubes are torn to shreds with great enthusiasm which he then jumps on with spread wings and assorted grunts and growls. Initially he was keen to step up but now he is less keen, just using my hand as a stepping stone to climb higher in the cage. IMG_20161010_123939.jpg

Greys, like most parrots, love and need to chew. Mine LOVES cardboard tubes and things he can tear apart. Cardboard boxes (sans glue and staples) are a great hit.

Welcome and be welcomed. Always keep in the back of yur mind - parrots, and Greys in particular are as smart as a 3 yr old human kid -so you need to provide the kind of enrichment to their lives that is similar. Toys, games , puzzles, and especially interaction - parrots need these so much, and the more they get them, the more you will receive, in fact 3 fold, in return.

A new behaviour , he likes to crawl inside my jacket and snuggle. Is this a liking for warmth or nesting behaviour?

Many birds do this with their owners as a sign of affection, as well as the warmth factor :) How old is your CAG? It is not usually a nesting behavior, rather a "you're my person and I want to be with you" kind of behavior. :)

He is 9 months. Thanks for the info. Having read about raging hormones in springtime I was concerned.
