Hey, all. New to the forums, as well as GCC's, though I have owned 'tiels, canaries and budgies in the past.
A family member recently picked up a pair of GCC's. They have not been sexed, and the previous owner couldn't really come up with an age.
I've spent some time with these guys to get a feel for where they're at; obviously they're still getting used to being in a new home but, FWIW...
The one on the right in the attached picture seems to be a little bolder; he/she will follow me around the cage and take food out of my hand without hesitation.
The one on the left is very skittish; for the most part, will not take food out of my hand. Usually moves off to the opposite side of the cage, though will eventually come in to take a bite (of the food, not me).
They haven't yet been handled out of the cage. Going to give them a bit more time, as they freak out quite a bit.
They are currently still in the cage that they came in (from the previous owner). Tried to see if they'd venture into their new cage by putting the doors face-to-face, but no luck yet. As I said before, I'll give them some more time to adjust.
One thing that concerns me, though, is the condition of their feathers in the mantle/scapular areas. Not really sure if it's a cause for concern, so I'm posting to hopefully get some insight.
Anyway, sorry for babbling. Thanks for taking the time to read though it.
