- I now have a young Hahn's macaw. I used to have a Pacific Parrotlet that lived until almost 15. Before that I had a budgie.
After 15 years of loving a "mighty big" little Pacific Parrotlet, my husband and I have adopted a "mighty bigger" Hahn's macaw. I have to say that he's definitely a different animal, for sure. We've bonded with him quickly since adopting him on Labor Day weekend. He's now about 5.5 months old. The avian vet said he's still considered a "baby", and I must admit he seems like a baby (clingy, baby-like vocalizations, a little clumsiness).
I feel that my husband and I treated our Pacific Parrotlet very very well. I was home with him most all day every day, but after losing him I was devastated. Since adopting our Hahn's macaw both hubby and I are super spoiling him. Perhaps we shouldn't, but we never had any kids.
