New Sun Conure

I decided to add one more to my flock and decided to get a Sun Conure. He is about 15 months old and hasn't had his wings clipped. He is a sweet bird he just has a bad habit of flying away from me. I just got him yesterday but while i was trying to put his cage back together from trying to get it in the door of my house he was out sitting on the top of a book shelf and wouldn't come down. Should I clip his wings for now so he can get used to being handled a little more. I also have a black Capped conure but I dont have his wings clipped either but he never flies away from us.

I would clip his wings now so you could handle and train him. Then once the feathers grow back you will have a trained flying bird, peace to you.

I would suggest giving him at least 3 weeks to settle in and work with him using clicker training/positive reinforcement prior to deciding to clip him. Heck, it may be a fun challange training him while he's flighted!

I would also suggest getting him clipped so he can get use to you first. Congrats on your new addition. :]
