New species of amazon discovered!

The description of its call while flying sounds much like my DYH Amazon's call as the reality of two beings found in the same door frame becomes a known reality! :D

I think that they will be a priority to set within a protective classification will happen quickly. Also, that heavy jungled area makes for a real difficult area to access.

Anyone want to wagger that they had been searching that area for temples, etc...?

Blue-Winged Amazon; Going to be interesting to see photos of the coloration!

Thanks, for the heads-up!

Sounds like an Inductees Party will be in the makings! Like Amazons need a reason to Party!

So when will they be available for adoption.. LOL

I too am excited to see more than just the photo in the article. I want to see the blue wings for which this amazon is named! I listened to the recording of it's 'distinctive call' on another website (https://phys.org/news/2017-06-blue-winged-amazon-parrot-species-yucatan.html) and found the racket to be absolutely dreadful. I turned it off before Kiwi decided to make it the only new noise he ever adds to his repertoire:rolleyes:

Interesting your DYH sounds more like the calls of the BWA!

My mom's DYH (wild caught as an adult bird) sounds very similar to this call, very melodic almost musical in her vocalizations. She has a beautiful voice for a parrot!

The sound of the BWA, I cannot say I find as lovely:rolleyes:

(Option to listen to the noise the newly discovered amazon makes is at the bottom of the page. I couldn't figure out how to imbed it here)

Well, the sound that Julio makes at that moment prior to crashing into me (he would say that 'I' crashed into him!) is anything but melodic and certainly not musical in any way! I would not want to ever translate it into English as it would contain far too many #*^!?&, etc's to count! :D.

Now when he is musing with his favorite Lady of the House, he provides very musical vocalizations that are heartwarming and a joy to listen too!

Julio informed me that the Island Amazons have been passing the hat as a preparation to gathering the needed supplies for an Inductees Party! When the Island Amazons had been rolled into the Amazon family, they celebrated for a week (or until the Rum ran out, but no ones knows for sure).

* The Amazon Tent grows even larger! Go Amazons!

So you have a nice bird who plans parties (even if said parties include copious amounts of rum:33:). Mine has been been plotting...other things:eek:

I just hope someone offers some updates on the new species at some point.

I still check in every so often to see about any further updates on the St. Vincent that hatched 2 or 3 years ago at a US zoo, but none as of yet:( Hope these blue wings generate more interest and thus more frequent updates!

Me, too. XD I've been avoiding parrot videos with too much screaming, etc. So far, Kizzy hasn't been very noisy. Right now, she's mumbling in her sleep. :)

The sad reality is that following up on fluff stories is something that is just not done any more. The only way is to check the individual organization or researchers sites!

Nice Bird? Only when his 'Dear Heart' is near by! Otherwise, he is plotting and conniving. The Island Amazons are the party planners! It's the island way of life. :D
