Well, looks like I'm moving from the amazon section to the cockatoo section...it's OFFICIAL!!!

So... I need name help. The baby is unsexed so I'm not sure if we'll be getting a boy or girl. maybe a unisex name? Hubby can't think of names till he sees the baby in person.

I'm not even sure yet lol I'm assuming just a few months old. I'm still working out all the details with the breeder, and of course all these important questions go *poof!* ...brain farts I suppose lol

Ok- so don't know the exact hatch date but he/she is about 5 months old

I looked at the photo and thought 'she's far to pretty to be a boy' :) I know you can't tell but she sure looks like a pretty girl to me and all I can think of are girls names. :)

According to hubby all my names are "old lady" names lol I was like what about Aretha?! Gloria?! Nope. Nope.

I'd prefer something unisex, maybe something that has...meaning?

According to my Parrot identification book, they are slightly sexual dimorphic. males have pink like the color of the body or cream crests and the females have a light pink crest and juv. has grey crest. Maybe that will help when it gets older and I would like to know how it turns out because my family wants to get one maybe.

Not sure about this. I have a dna'd male that is 4 months old and has a grey crest. I do know that the females have the dark red eyes and the males have the dark brown eyes. Not sure when this shows up exactly.

I too pick out old lady/man names. I love them! Here are the names that I had for Nigel my rb2. I still have the list on my phone.
female:
Mabel, Lucy, Millie (love this one!), olive, Phoebe, Beatrice, Betty, Bonnie, Clara, Daphne, Marnie, Mavis, Opal, Penny, Sally, Phylis, Tillie

male:
Cooper, Harvey, Vincent, Eugene, Otis, Nelson, Milo, Maxwell, Elliott, Barry, Virgil, Walter, Arnie, Franklin, Gideon, Percy, Duncan (almost used this), Nigel (used this), Elroy, Jasper,

Your hubby probably won't like most of these!!

We'll be having our baby DNA sexed at the first vet visit when she/he comes home- I'd like to know for sure lol
Thanks for the list of names! I used to have a 100,000+ baby name book, but just recently gave it to a friend who's pregnant -dangit! :/ should've kept it lol oh well...

As I understand it, in adults you get ruby red eyed birds that are definitely female, black eyed birds that are definitely male, then various shades in between that are harder to define. Alice's eyes are burgundy, clearly a lot of red in there but not the bright colour you sometimes see in females.

Little Bit, Widget, Ditto, Peanut, Jester, Silly, My daughter just tossed in Poptart and she thinks naming a bird Kitty would be way to much fun!

Thanks everyone for your name lists! 😊. I've been so busy these past few days getting everything ready so I'm not scrambling last minute...I think tomorrow I'll start looking at names and trying to pick some out.

So I think if it's a girl I'm gonna name her Cora...

So then we'll have Quigley and Cora -if you've seen the movie "Quigley Down Under" you'll get it 😉

I love the name Cora!!

In case you'd like to stick with the Australian theme:

Minmi - pron. 'MIN-my' - place on the hill
Nikkinbah - pron. 'NICKEN-bah' - place of burning coal
Karuah - pron. 'Ka-ROO-ah' - wild plum
Kotara - pron. 'Ket-AH-ruh' - a club or stick
Woomera - pron. 'WOO-ma-rah' with 'woo' as in 'wood' - a spear-thrower
Dilly - a little bag or basket

I'm stuck with the Minions....BeeBo BeeBo BeeBo....lol..... :D

Looks like a Delilah to me! So pretty!
