Ricco - Goffin's Cockatoo
Here are the pictures I took on Saturday, but haven't uploaded them yet!

P.S. Yep, that's me in the pictures. Please excuse my face, it was very hot and I hadn't put on any makeup or done my hair! LOL

Here he kept playing peek-a-boo with me. He would look on one side of the pole, so I would shift over there and say "Hi!" then he'd quickly move to the other side and I'd do it again. It was incredibly cute!

Thanks, I think so too! Hehe that's what everyone tells me ;)

I'm setting up Ricco Ricco's (I just like doubling his name for some reason) cage tonight!!! :D So excited!

Also waiting on an order from MSBS containing his boing, foraging toys, some foot toys, and some poop off hehe. AND his shower perch is also on its way! Oh, he's so spoiled already. I also just cleaned out my linen closet and made room to store all his perches, toys, and newspaper. :O It took up almost three whole shelves so far! Depending on how fast he goes through toys and perches, I think I'm set for at least 6 months LOL

Thank you very much! :)

Let's hope he'll be much happier once I bring him home... ;)

Awww, hes soooo cute! Congrats on being able to get him. I'm sure he'll be very happy with you.

Makup?!? I feel old now, I'm only 26 and very rarely put it on, mostly because it ends up just being washed off (wheres the practicality in that?). I do remember the days when I wouldn't dare leave the house without it on, funny how you change as you get older.

I just noticed that you can see his pupil in his eye? Maybe it's the light? I've never seen that with Sassy, her eyes look solid black. I've seen female umbrella 'toos and their eyes can be reddish brown, compared to the black of the male. Just curious, maybe Ricco is a female and Sassy a male? Hmmm...maybe others with goffin's, out there, can tell us.

Actually, Goffins eyes range from a reddish brown to black, and both sexes are the same, so it's still possible the Sassy is a girl and Ricco a boy. You can't tell by their eyes, sadly.

Ricco is adorable!!! His feathers do look ragged, perhaps even "shredded" as opposed to plucked? Maybe some bathing will help with that?

I've noticed with Sassy that she likes to shred, she'll pull at her feathers and sometimes they'll break at the ends. I've been misting her daily and it's helped a lot.

Thanks!

And no, don't feel old! I rarely, rarely put makeup on either! I think it just depends on the person. But usually if I know I'm going to be taking pictures of myself or someone's going to be taking pictures of me, I will definitely put it on because I think I look ten times better lol. My mom is 40 and she still WILL NOT do anything without her makeup on... No, really. She won't even SLEEP unless she has her makeup on! She's crazy... LOL

Interesting to know, guys! I was wondering about his eye, too. He's actually not been DNA sexed, but she claims that his pelvic bones are "touching" so there's no way he's female. I'm going to ask the vet about that. Sex doesn't really matter to me, per say, but I think it's easier to know and diagnose problems that may arise. For instance, if I know he's male I can rule out egg binding if he starts acting strange. If the vet says that's not true, I'll probably get him DNA'd.

Thanks, Katherine! I know, that's what I was thinking. They don't really look plucked at all, just overpreened/barbered. She says he enjoys baths and that she mists him, but I don't know how often. I just ordered his shower perch yesterday, so we'll have to see. :)

P.S. Am I the only one in the "Goffin's Club (hehe)" that has a male Goffin's? I know there's Sugar, Sassy, and what's the other one... Kia? I think. All female. LOL I have the pimp of the club! :p:p

I just set up Ricco boy's cage!!! :D

It took us about 2.5 hours, but it's up! No perches or anything in it yet, whew! I'll save that for tomorrow!

I know my partner didn't have any fun putting it up, she was getting so frustrated LOL. But I sure did! I had a blast! Probably because I'm so excited....

My order from MSBS should be here tomorrow! :D

Ricco is so adorable!!!! I am very excited for you. Won't be too long and he will be home!!!! I am sure he is going to love being with you.

Laura (LuvMyTooo) has Yoshi, whom I believe is a boy. And GiosMom is getting a Goffin's next month, though I'm not sure if she knows Chico's actual gender.

I don't think the pelvic bones are necessarily a good indicator. I'd go ahead and have him DNA'd, as I'm sure that's also what the Vet will recommend as well. I have a shower perch and my babies LOVE it! I wonder if Ricco will do the "Shower Dance" for you? Sugar does it, but usually not until after the water has been turned off (it's a natural instinct, she just doesn't know to do it IN the water  ). It's hilarious, I hope to capture it on video one of these days!

Oh my gosh, duh! I totally overlooked luvmytooo! So sorry, hun! LOL. Yep, you're right! And I'm pretty sure GiosMom doesn't know Chico's sex, and I don't think she's having him tested.

Oh, I hope he likes his shower perch. :)
