Hi everyone I’m Mary, I adopted a Parrotlet back in the beginning of October, I live in South London and drove to East London to pick her up.
Shes INCREDIBLY tame, her owner unfortunately has to travel for work now and was gutted to let her go but wanted to make sure somebody would look after her properly.
She even had her own bedroom at his house and was rarely in her cage and he wanted the same for whoever adopted her.
Shes 4 years old and I renamed her ‘Meep’ cos dear god, she meep meep meeps very friendly from the get go. Loves to be wherever I am, loves a snuggle, happy to have head scratches from anybody BUT shes not very ‘playful’. I don’t mean like “oh she won’t play with me”, but for her own benefit. I spend hundreds on toys for her, I have perches and hanging rings in all the rooms in the house. Her cage I change the toys and perches every other week to keep her entertained. I have perches stuck to the windows at home (she likes to watch the world go by) she’ll chew toys in her cage but when shes out (which is atleast 80% of the time), shes just happy to be with me or being involved in what I’m doing. Is this okay? I just don’t want suddenly one day she starts plucking because shes bored of sitting with me? Like I said, LOADS of toys to play with, I’ve even tried playing with her. Her old owner did say the same so I guess I shouldn’t worry?
Has anybody had the same experience with Parrotlets? Maybe shes just happy to sit with me and not play? Somebody let me know that I’m not going mad lol thank you!!!!!
