I know a Yellow-crowned Amazon would be considered an advanced bird, but a friends neighbors were moving and couldn't take it with them, and this little guy was completely free with his cage and toys and everything. I got him earlier today. They were keeping him outside his entire life and I plan on doing as much research as I can to better this little guys life. He is only 1 1/2 years old, too.

Here is his picture:

Welcome to the forum. I don't know anything about Amazon's we aren't allowed them in Western Australia. He's a lovely looking bird. What is his name? :)

Welcome to the forum:)

He is adorable and is exactly the same age as my YC Codie.

Feel free to ask questions... We are happy to help:)

His original owners named him Rio, but I want to change it. I'm not sure to what yet, though.

Hehe, I he is starting to respond to treats now. He walked on my arm for the first time today, but later on got a little testy and tried to nip. What advice does anyone have to teach a parrot not to bite?

loads of threads in the Amazon section about rehoming ,biting , all the things you need to know.
