New Owner Orange Winged Amazon

Hi all! My name is Cyndy. I am from St Petersburg, FL. I just recently received a 30 year old Orange Winged Amazon named Hawkeye. He was my father's bird. My Dad got him as a baby but was afraid to work with him much due to his African Grey baby getting sick and dying suddenly right around the same time. My father passed away 15 months ago so, my niece decided she wanted the bird and took him to NY. Well, my niece decide she didn't want him anymore so she flew him back to Florida to be with us. We have been around the bird for most of his thirty years and we missed him terribly but, we are going to need help in properly training him. (if that is possible with a large parrot this age) He talks some and is somewhat interactive but, he does not like to be handled. Anybody have any ideas? Thanks much!
