Hi and sorry for only joining out of need, I have a 4 yr old female and a 10 yr old male. THey live in large separate cages, away from each other, but in sight of each other. I never close the cages and they are free to come and go as they like. They go around the house and back and forth from play stand to cage and back. My home is bird proof. They never like to be around each other and when brought together, they fight. My female had been displaying mating/egg laying signs recently, so I have stopped giving her attention so she will stop trying to mate (with me). I came home tonight and she was under the males cage with an egg. The male was on the kitchen island. I placed the egg in the bottom of her cage on a towel, and then put her in with it and closed the door. She will not pay attention to it at all. Is anything wrong? I cannot find anything about a Macaw neglecting an egg online it Likely is infertile, but it is possible that it is live given their freedom in the house and ability to get to each other, when Im away or not looking
