Hello All, my name is Deb, just found this forum. I am a huge pet lover, we have a small dog, a chi/chin mix, 2 sugargliders and an Indian Ring Neck named sid.We one of those love/hate relationships. He can be so sweet sometimes. He showers me with kisses when I get home from work. I am having a couple of problems with him. We got him from a friend when he was about 10 years old. They (get this) fed him what ever they ate which was mostly fast foods. Like McDonalds. And now I can't get him to eat healthy foods, like fruits and veggies, I have tried everything. We have had him for about 6 years. And whenever he's out of his cage he SCREAMS constantly. And of course during mating season I get to be his "mate" lucky me. He regurgitates his food on my foot....ewwww icky! LOL. Does anyone have any suggestions on the food or screaming. Sometimes I can get him to eat chicken, he loves pasta, but not the greatest for him. Yesterday I tried mixing blueberries, mango and pineapple in some yogurt, didn't fool him one bit. He will eat apple once in a while.

Welcome :D

For fast food substitute you can slice up sweet potatoes or yams into thin strips, and bake them in the oven to create healthy fries :) you may also want to check out this chop mix for including more healthy food. You make it in bulk, freeze it, then offer it daily. The first time I made it my galah basically ignored it for 2 months, then she started trying it(I offered it daily, so eventually she'd try it lol) and she LOVED it.

Thanks will try the chop mix. I have to make up fruit and veggie mixes for my sugar gliders anyway. Forgot to mention we also give him seed. We get it at the feed store so we can get a couple of different mixes to give him variety he seems to really like it, but wants "people" food first!

My Amazon won't eat fruit or yogurt, I didn't think he ate healthy either.
I kept offering him different things, turn out he loves beets, brussel sprouts, turnip and if I make a soup with those in it I can throw in carrots peas and other things he wion't usually touch.

Keep offering healthy things and prepare them in different ways. If he doesn't like fruit, thats OK if he's eating his veggies.

Also mine loves pasta too, so I started making my own sauce and threw in all kinds of vegetables,he loves it and I use whole wheat pasta or rice pasta.

Birdie breads are another way to get some good things iinto his tummy.
