- Dusty 35 y/o Orange Wing Amazon and Perrott 18 y/o Double Yellow Headed Amazon
Hi:
My family has had parrots my whole life. Dusty, my Orange Wing Amazon, I bought in December, 1978. She has always been a member of the family. Dusty has been around my other animals for so long she will put another animal in place with a well place bite if needed.
My new parrot, Perrott, is an 18 year old Double Yellow Headed Amazon that I adopted from one of my clients this past May who did not have the enough time to keep Perrott from getting bored and screaming all the time. It feels like she has been here her whole life. She speaks well and loves all the other animals.
I also have two German Shepherds, two Aussies, an American Eskimo and two cats. The Eskimo grooms Dusty on a regular basis and Dusty loves it.
Dusty recently chased the Eskimo out of the room, laughing all the way.
Oh yeah, got a husband and a 13 year old son. My husband foolishly thinks a house should have one dog and one cat. Since I manage a 50 dog boarding and grooming kennel, my husband lives in fear of what animals I will bring home. So far only two Aussie rescues! Actually he and the Eskimo, another rescue, adore each other. After 23 years of marriage, he knows the pets are here to stay.
Happy to find people who understand birds like I do since none of my friends own any birds.
