Parrots
Dusty 35 y/o Orange Wing Amazon and Perrott 18 y/o Double Yellow Headed Amazon
Hi:

My family has had parrots my whole life. Dusty, my Orange Wing Amazon, I bought in December, 1978. She has always been a member of the family. Dusty has been around my other animals for so long she will put another animal in place with a well place bite if needed.

My new parrot, Perrott, is an 18 year old Double Yellow Headed Amazon that I adopted from one of my clients this past May who did not have the enough time to keep Perrott from getting bored and screaming all the time. It feels like she has been here her whole life. She speaks well and loves all the other animals.

I also have two German Shepherds, two Aussies, an American Eskimo and two cats. The Eskimo grooms Dusty on a regular basis and Dusty loves it.
Dusty recently chased the Eskimo out of the room, laughing all the way.

Oh yeah, got a husband and a 13 year old son. My husband foolishly thinks a house should have one dog and one cat. Since I manage a 50 dog boarding and grooming kennel, my husband lives in fear of what animals I will bring home. So far only two Aussie rescues! Actually he and the Eskimo, another rescue, adore each other. After 23 years of marriage, he knows the pets are here to stay.

Happy to find people who understand birds like I do since none of my friends own any birds.

Thanks for the welcome. I am a 100 percent Amazon fan.

I am working on getting a photo posted. Glad to be with people who feel like I do about birds as none of my friends have birds.

I have started a public album with pictures of my feathered kids. The Orange Wing is more shy than the Double Yellow Head when it comes to the camera. So I have more pictures right now of Perrott than Dusty even though I have owned Dusty since 1978!

Thanks for the welcome and the compliment of being another experienced member. Been doing this for so long, it is second nature to me when it comes to Amazons.

Love my Shepherds!

Welcome! Tommy is also, foolishly, under the impression of one dog, one cat. Unfortunately for him, its two dogs (hopefully 3 soon), two cats, two parrots, and two horses (oh and his five fish tanks that range from 10gal to 120gal). :D

Hey GShepard, I got a couple of OWAs i've had for about 30 something years. A YNA since 70, Pan since 75 and a bunch of others almost as long. LOVE my zons. Welcome to the forum. We do loads of rehome zons so ask away or tell me what i'm doing wrong, LOL. Hope to see you around and look forward to your post.

Yes, we do. The scary part is all the animals pretty much get along with each other. If they ever gang up on us, we are in trouble! The parrots will be the brains of the attack. LOL
