My name is Bill Hatfield, and until two years ago would not go near a parrot. One day while working outside i heard loud screeching. A sun conure was in my tree, and before long had jumped onto my shoulder. I took her in, and searched online, at vets, in newspapers, pet stores, etc, but no one had reported her missing. So i named her Swaggy (after a friend), bought her a cage, toys, food, and started reading up on suns. She's been a member of the family since then. My wife and i started volunteering for a parrot rescue group and learned to handle mccaws, amazons, cockatoos, etc. This summer we rescued a baby green cheek (may be part pinapple) and named her Dewey (mountain dew). Now swaggy and dewey go everywhere with us, and ive attached pictures of them at their first show with the parrots of paradise rescue group this weekend. Im sure i will be asking a lot of questions, and will answer questions to the best of my ability ...

Love the photos. Funny how one lost little sun conure changed everything!! That's awesome.

What lovely pictures! Conures are the best pets ever.

Dewey looks like a cinnamon green cheek. :)

Welcome to the forum! And what a neat story on how you got into birds! :D

Welcome! This is a great forum with a lot of support... don't know what I would do without these people :)

Here are the pictures i took of swaggy before she jumped on my arm. I wanted proof for the wife that there was a parrot in our tree and didnt have a clue that she would make the next jump to my arm ....

HAH! Sounds vaguely familiar...

Only my little sun conure that started it all was given to me as a gift...

Welcome to the forums!
