Parrots
Proud parront to...
Tiki (U2), Zelda (GCC), Bender (Tiel), Pickles (Parrotlet), Pax (IRN), Goku (Sun), Jack (Caique), Moko (Crested Gecko), Goose (Red Lored Amazon)
Hi everyone, pleased to meet you. Long time reader, haven't posted much yet. I am the proud owner of a flock of four birds. We have an umbrella cockatoo named Tiki, a cinnamon green-cheeked conure named Zelda (AKA Mae-bird or Mae Mae), a cockatiel named Bender, and a new parakeet named Lemonade. All our are birds are adopted or abandoned birds we took in. They are part of our family and whenever we are home they are out. We lavish all of our attention and love on our birds and I feel like my life would be empty without them. I am most closely bonded with my GCC Zelda, who I bought for my wife as a Valentine's gift. She's a shoulder bird and doesn't want 'momma' (my wife) to pick her up or pet her when she's on me. I also own two bearded dragons (Lola and Java), a veiled chameleon (Vudu), and a crested gecko (Moko).

Please let me know if you'd like to know anything else

Hello there! Nice to see you posting! Very interesting flock of birds and other friends. I'd like to hear more about your group. Adoption stories are always welcome.

My favorite adoption story is the day we got my U2, Tiki. My wife and I had discussed pets and eventually settled on getting a larger bird since our GCC was so much fun to spend time with. So we did several months of research and settled on either a CAG or cockatoo. I wanted a CAG for the intelligence, and my wife wanted a cockatoo for the 'cuddle factor'. We were warned about cockatoo moodiness and noise and got to meet several birds before we decided on one at a local shelter, Snowy. We met her on a Saturday and went to get her on Monday (needed a check) only to find her gone. So we gave up for a few weeks before I found a wonderful local sanctuary called CARE, and noticed a 12-year-old U2 in their facility who needed a home.

We drove out with a carrier intending to pick up a bird of some kind, and we met several including a plucked Galah named Rosie who we nearly went home with. Lastly, we met Kiki, who we were told 'doesn't like many people'. Kiki (who they sexed as male after they got him in) stepped up right away when we met him and sat on my shoulder displaying. He stepped up for my wife and mumbled a bit (he doesn't talk, he mumbles) and we decided to take him home, and we bought the cage he stayed at CARE in. It's literally gigantic and all his toys and familiar stuff came with it. On the way home we got subs and sat down for dinner at home with Tiki on his perch. Tiki was so inquisitive and happy to be with us he fell asleep after patrolling the table. I love my bird with all my heart and I treat him like my kid

Thank you for sharing Tiki's very well-told story! I understand, I adore my U2, they do something wonderful to your heart.

My Poppy would love to meet the very handsome Tiki! All your babies are just gorgeous! Love the pics of Java and Lola, lovely couple, how long have you had them?

We have had Lola since May of 2014, she was 2 months old when we got her and she grew like a weed. She's in brumation at the moment so she's been sleeping in her hammock a lot.

We got Java in July of 2014. We were told by the owners to buy a different lizard because he was a bit nippy. I know from experience that almost no animals bite maliciously so we took Java out of his tank and after a bit of struggle he calmed down and came home with us. We would like to breed them in the near future.
