Hello everyone! I am new to the site, and new to large bird ownership. I have had plenty of small and medium birds (cockatiels, lovebirds, parakeets, etc) but recently adopted my first large bird. He is a 12-15 year old Blue front Amazon:green::). His temperament seems good for the environment he came from. After the 2nd day of adoption I was able to handle him! Im still learning and am receptive to any information anyone has to offer. Im also a mother, a handmade jewelry crafter/ wire wrapper / artist. Nice to meet you all!

Welcome! The Amazon Snobs[emoji769] will be along shortly to tell you to read the Amazon threads and I don't want to steal their fun, so I'll just tell you the part about we love pics! Glad you're here.

Hmmm, looks like some room has been left for a comment or two from an Amazon Snob! Trademarked not less! :D

As indicated, yup - some reading is recommended! The Amazon Forum has two 'Sticky Threads' found at the top of the page in light blue. Normally, I would recommend that you start with the First Thread: Understanding Amazon Body Language or like words. But, this time, I am going to recommend that your open the second Thread that is titled: I Love Amazons - ... This is a Huge Thread with more found with in it than listed on page one. I ask that you read the first Segment titled: I Love Amazons! May it provide you starting place in the Wonderful World of Amazons.

Once you have read that Segment, you can read the other Segments as you have time and also when you are doing a very productive activity of READing too your Amazon!

Now, its time to read the Thread regarding understanding Amazon Body Language. Read this Thread to your Amazon by sitting next to him or as close as he is comfortable. Read It to Him Out Loud in a comforting voice!

Bring an Amazon into your home is much like have a very bright two /three year old Baby forever more!

A point of understanding: It is Never the fault of the Amazon! It is Always the fault of the Human. Viewing your interactions with your Amazon from this Vantage Point will quickly allow you to understand what you are doing Wrong and Correct it!

Amazon's Have More Fun! Enjoy!
