I have wanted a big bird since i was a child...well since birds aren't for children...i get to have one now..lol

I got a red lord amazon today. I got it from a seller today, he wasn't a breeder, but bought the animals at like an acution..:/ Anyways, i guess he has had this female for a while. But decided to sell her to me.

My main question is! What kind of pellet food do you all recommend?

My cockatoo eats fruit ands veggies...but can the amazon eat it too or is that a no no?

that is all i can think of right now, cause i'm so stuck on which food to order!

I bought a bag or a seed mix, but i have read that is more or a treat and PART of the diet not the main part and i need pellets...i just dont know what kind to buy..:)

Thank you so very much i'm sure i will be back will MANY more questions for you all!!

Thank you MikeyTN i will read up on the link you sent when i get up in the AM!!

Check out Zupreem or Roudybush. Those are high quality pellets and very nutritious! I had my GCC on a seed mix beforehand and the food transition was very easy to the Zupreem. He LOVES the pellets.

Vegetables are good for any parrot, but if the Amazon isn's accustomed to eating it, then he might not take to it well. Do try it. A lot of the time they will try when they see another bird doing/eating a certain thing.

As fat as pellets go, Harrison's organic is among the highest quality as far as nutrition goes. TOPS is supposed to be a top quality one too. Zupreem is okay but it's like comparing cereal from the market, to cereal from the health food store:)
