new macaw owners!!

We just purchaced our baby b&g macaw Maui mango! He won't be weaned for a couple month's, we can't wait! This is out first bird, and after much research we decided on a macaw. We are planning on not clipping his wings, and harness training. Any tips and advice would always be great!

If he's gonna be flighted, I would also recall... macs are probably the best recall birds anyway.

Congrats! My first thought is to request that your breeder begin introducing him to the harness and be VERY CLEAR that you do NOT want his wings clipped, as many breedes clip automatically. If the breeder refuses to begin harness training, I would try to find a new breeder. I begin training my babies within two weeks of hatching, and I would wonder why the breeder would be spending so little time with my chick that introducing the harness to such a young bird wouldn't be an option.
