New lovebird scared of people

We got a new lovie (4 years old) and she had been abused by collage kids, they would take her out of her cage and chase her around trying to get her( we don't know what else they did to her) the place were I got Precious gave her to us becaus we wanted to buy her some day, and they said that we could have her!,
I got to take her out of the cage at the parrot store and into one of ours but she is so frightend!
I think I know what I can do for her but any other advice of what I should do?

Just leave her be in the cage and don't force her out. If she's ok with you sitting near the cage then you can offer millet through the cage bars, or if she's ok with it, offer her food from your hand inside the cage. Allow her to come to your hand, don't shove it in her face!

If she's not ok with you being near, then give her some cover so she can feel safer until you can work on taming her.
