Hello friends.. Just wanted to say "HELLO" and introduce myself. My name is Vee and soon I will be the proud mommy of a 11 week old Pineapple GCC, who's name is Yoshi (yo-yo for short). This will be my first time with a conure and I am hoping it will do well for living in a condo. I've heard many different stories about GCC being for the most part quiet, but never the less, they are still a bird!

So besides reading a lot about GCC, what can you tell me about them... Good, Bad and Ugly!

Welcome Vee and Yoshi! Many Green Cheek owners here to relate to and ask questions :)

Love our little gcc. He's generally quiet but occasionally he lets out a loud squawk as if to remind us he's around! He's 1 yr old and we are loving having him around.

I got my Teeko boy just 2 weeks ago. He's a spectacular little buddy!
One thing you should know is that GCCs are very clingy, and their favorite place to be is on you. All the time. Look into potty training to reduce messes!
Like most small parrots, they have a hard time entertaining themselves so be sure to offer a variety of toys, and try to figure out what Yoshi likes most. (Mine loves paper and loose beads!)
Unless you live alone then make sure the other members of your household get some one-on-one time with him/her as soon as you get him/her home! (That is to say, if he's already hand tame) Otherwise he may become aggressive toward them later on.
There's so much to say, I could just go on and on about these fantastic birds! Feel free to PM me whenever you want!

Hey, thats awesome, GCCs are really nice birds.
They are pretty quiet, but expect screeching at bedtime and in the morning anywhere between sunrise and 9am... I think this is pretty common in most birds.
I agree with Roanoke, they are very clingy. Which in my opinion is a good thing! When your cleaning out the cage, watching TV, or doing homework you can have your bird out of the cage with you and it will be content for a while to just preen or sleep as long as its on you. At least, I've found that with my bird. All birds are different. My bird loves when I wear a hoodie, because she can sit in the hood! I should take a picture of it. But definitely try that out with your bird eventually, it's so cute.
I wouldn't describe my GCC as cuddly, but she does love scratches.
One bad thing to say is that they are a bit bitey, but by training the bird and the owner, that can be avoided or toned down.
Anyways, they are so great, I'm jealous of how excited you must be! Good Luck!!

Thanks guys for your response. I am very excited, but also a little nervous at the same time. I just moved back in with my mom and she is not a big fan of birds. Although she has tolerated them in the past when we lived in our house, it is different now living in a condo. When I moved back recently I had a WCP that was 11 yrs old and tend to have some bad habits, such as calling to get out of his cage when he heard someone home. But being that my mom was the one to get home before me everyday, it stressed her out to have to hear him call for who he thought was me that arrived home early. I asked her to just let him out of his cage, but he was very aggressive towards her and scared my mom. So to make a long story short, I rehomed him to a local bird rescue, which tore my heart!!
After talking with my mom for the last 2 months, she has realized that I'm just not the same person without having my bird. She knows that I have a lot of passion for birds and has agreed on welcoming a smaller bird into our home and I hope she will have an open mind on my new baby (Pineapple GCC). I stressed to her that birds are vocal, some more than others and it all depends on their personilities. At least I can raise this baby with her interacting to get to know it as well has so that hopefully there are no aggressive threats.
As far as noise, again hopefully more on the lower scale - for my sake!! :09:

006.jpgMy little pineapple isn't loud at all as i live in an apartment and my neighbors wouldn't like it too much if she were shreiking all the time.
When I got "wassup" he was already tamed being handfed. She's not a nipper at all. She's out of her cage majority of the day, only going back in it to sleep. She's very spoiled...she eats just fine. The Dollar stores offer dried fruits such as papaya and pineapple. She loves that for snacks and is cost effective.
I have two other birds, cockateils, she's a bully ,wants to play but they run when they see her all fluffed up and coming at them.
best day of my life when i found her on craigslist and with a huge cage and for 125. woohoo Wassup!!!
