New indian ringneck

Hi guys, I recently put a hold on a 4 week old green indian ringneck. I was wondering the best way to introduce this guy to our home. I have never had a young bird like this. We got our green check when he was about 3 months old and was already people and bird friendly. What are the dos and donts of a bird this young. I want the GCC and the new ringneck to get along but don't want to introduce too soon nor wait too long and have the ringneck be a larger possibly intimidating friend. Introductions can wait between the two but I don't want to reinforce bad habits that can fo early with such a young bird. Tips,pointers, advice and encouragement would be much appreciated. I have a GCC and plan on introducing a new baby IRN tomorrow actually. Our breeder told us to spend a LOT of time with our new baby bird during the next three days especially, but not to let the two birds interact for three days besides seeing each other from a distance or through the cage. If they are acting like they might be ok to introduce them in three days outside the cage and see how it goes. He thought it would be fine, but not to dare just stick the new one in the GCC's cage on day one.

It's always best to quarantine your new bird; even if they've been properly vetted. Just in case they're hiding something that pops up with the stress of a new home, so they don't infect your other bird(s). Most people quarantine for 30 days, though everybody has their individual opinions. During that 30 days you can interact with each bird separately, give the new bird time to warm up to the new home, before introducing them to a new bird that could potentially stress them out more.
Very excited to hear about the babies though! I love ring necks. They're so pretty.

Yep, that's exactly what I was thinking. Forget 3 days. Try 30. It's not worth the risk.

I had my first Bronze Winged (before Raven) who I bought at a bird store. She not only was beautiful, and had an avian vet check up PLUS VIRAL TESTING, but STILL... after EIGHT months, she popped out with PDD. The virus that couldn't be tested for then (and still don't have an accurate enough test to date). I've since been really paranoid about where I get a bird and my supplies from .

Not to be doom and gloom, but just sayin'.
I guess there's no 100% about anything in life including quarantine. We should be careful next time we cross the street too lol... about 15 years ago I (very close miss) almost got hit by a speeding car running a red light while I was on foot. :11:
