hello! ill be picking up my 2nd parrot today. he/she is a green IRN. he/she is about a year old now, parent raised. he/she's not handfed and an aviary bird so he/she's a bit shy and dont want anything to do with us humans :) how do i get to tame her and trust me and eventually bond with me? my first was a black-capped lory and he's handfed and tame so this hasn't been an issue for me before. ill appreciate all the help, tips, advices i'll be getting from u guys! thanx a lot! :)

Congrats on your new IRN! Looking forward to see photos! :p

The first thing would be better to let him/her to settle in a bit, I would recommend start taming him/her on the third or even after a week.

Anyway, I would recommend target and clicked training! If you go on youtube, there are lots of awesome videos on it, because sometimes it's a bit hard to tell exactly what to do in words.

Goodbirdinc and birdtricks are great website to check out, they have lots of good taming and trick training videos and newsletter on their site.

But very basic stuff is just to sit near it's cage to start off with, when he/her is fine with you standing next to it, then slowly try to handle it. Changing its food and water dish, and even cleaning its cage is part of taming since you're very close to him/her.

Good luck :)
