I just responded to your other post lol! Congrats---so cute.
Things to remember:
1.Patience....bird time is like snail time- SLOOOWED DOWN. There will likely be a honeymoon, followed by rudeness.
2.Work on building trust above all else(step-ups can wait)
3. Don't get offended if bird picks one family member over the others---this often shifts with the wind (puberty, routines, trust, etc all feed into this).
4. Puberty is a pain in the butt, so try not to get your bird in the habit of being petted in overly-sexual ways...For me, I stick to petting my bird's head only, with under-wing scratches once in a blue moon (2 seconds max ) lol.
5. Take lots of videos and pictures so that you can look back and see how far you have come.
6. Look into ABA (applied behavior analysis). It works for people and birds.
7. Don't provide more attention than you will be able to sustain in the future---yes, the first few days, fine...but it is easy to get so excited that you spend all of your time with your "baby", and you WON'T be able to sustain that rate of attention forever, so be mindful of this when setting boundaries :)

Thanks for the great advice, I will be saving that to remember. She went in her cage, hopped around checking out the perches and toys then jumped right in her water bowl for a bath. We are letting her settle in and get comfy in her new house.

Wonderful. Gee, GCCs are just the best. What a beauty.

Yeah, and while the bird is settling in, you can, too, right here. Read and learn and share about all the important topics.

I wish your family-flock a long and happy relationship.

:smile015:Congratulations on your beautiful baby. And yes they LOVE a bath, they're notorious for it. Keep your phone/camera at the ready, there will be many adorable birdie-bathtime movies.
