New from New Orleans!

Hi everyone! I'm Elizabeth, I'm not a current parrot owner but I hope to change that within the next few months. I really miss having birds! I live in New Orleans, LA. where I'm a pastry chef, amateur photographer and Dexter fanatic. I'm also a big football fan. I have 2 cats, Sam, who came all the way from New Mexico with an old retired couple in their Winnebago traveling around the US. He started their little adventure as a kitten but by the time they made their way to Louisiana he had grown to large for them to keep so they left him at a shelter and I adopted him shortly after that. My little girl Amelia was born behind a light fixture store and lived in the loading dock area with her siblings. The employees would take turns feeding the mom and babies until they were old enough to be weaned from their mom. I was asked to help find homes for the kittens and ended up keeping the runt of the litter. She turned out to be a really pretty cat with her long fluffy coat and quirky personality!

I'm still trying to decide if I'm going to adopt a bird or go through a breeder. If anyone knows of any rescue/shelter programs in Louisiana please let me know, I'm having some trouble finding them. Also anyone who could give my boyfriend and I advice on picking the right parrot would be a great help
