"VAL" greenwing macaw
hey , Just joined and reading alot of old threads. looks like real world advice from people with real world experiences. Alot of years ago I had a mollucan, he was very loud, very spoiled ,and really abnoxious. I realy loved that silly messy monster! He got sick and after a week at the avian vet I got a bill for a huge amount and my dead bird in a box. I was tore up but, I knew then I would one day replace her with a greenwing.
Flash foward about 9 years. --- 2 months ago I got lucky! saw an ad in a local paper for a greenwing cheap. Turns out the bird was beat up a bit. the owners dog got a hold of her and tore out her tail put a few dents and dings in her but she looked good to me!!! She is about 2.5 years old and has become part om my everyday routine. She is quiet and cuddly and not at all afraid of my Anatolian shepard dogs . I can handel her just fine, and touch every part of her body. My wife or kids cant touch her yet. Her tail has all but grown in and the scabs on her face have healed. she still has a shiver, I am hopeing it will go away. I look foward to reading all the stories and advice here. Have a great day Keith

Pleased to meet you! Welcome to the forums, have a look around.

I hope she heals up soon, and I'm glad you took her under your wing. I wish you the best! :)

Great to having you joining us, super forum, lovely members. :)
So glad the bird is settling in, takes a while to get used to new surrounding and strange voices.
Any question, please feel free to ask.

Welcome to the forum. She's a very lucky bird - not only that she survived the encounter with the dog, but that you were there to give her a happy, safe home.

BTW - NC is just about my favorite place ever. If you don't mind my asking what area are you in?
