Parrots
Pickles-white winged parakeet; Yoda-Quaker parrot; Solo- Senegal parrot; Kiwi-white winged parakeet-Forever in our hearts, RIP
I lurked on here a couple of years ago, but don't think I introduced myself then. I'm Christina and I'm 31. I'm married with critters-a 8 year old pit bull mix named Sally, Jack, a 6 year old chocolate lab, Sadie and Runt-calico kitties, two white winged parakeets called Pickles and Kiwi, Yoda the Quaker parrot, and a Senegal parrot named Solo. Solo is our newest addition-we've had him about two weeks now. He's 12 years old and we are his third home. He's having some trouble adjusting-scared of everything, doesn't want to venture out of his cage or be touched- hopefully he will come around soon...

Wow, you should have a zoo grand opening. Welcome to the forum Christina and we all look forward to seeing some pics. I'm sure Solo will be fine in time. As I'm sure you're award, patience is a virtue. :)

welcome to the forum .It is going to take some time and patience but I am sure your senegal will adjust to his new home. I love to watch their eyes the way their eyes pin , I find it fascinating because you can see it so clearly.:D

Welcome, OMG your hands sure are full
Enjoy the forum

Seeing Solos eyes pin is very cool. The other birds eyes are to dark to see it. It does seem like he is going to need more time than my other guys did. Honestly I'll just be happy if we can get him from point A to point B without it being a huge stressful deal so that he can have social and out of cage time like the others do. I bought him at an exotic animal auction but his former owner is a friend of a friend. She got him from a family who had owned him for years but when the teenage daughter went to college the mom didn't want to deal with him and sold him to his previous owner. She had him for a year but had never owned a bird before, learned she wasn't a bird person, and said he was making too much noise for her apartment.

He is my first " second hand" bird and I'm sure will be a learning experience.
