Okay, so here is a journal i guess of what 'Berts' behaviour is like.
I get him/her home. Let Bert rest for a few hours, he just wanted me to scratch him on the head. So i do that, and he hung around the door, up and down. I open the door, he flies out and onto my shoulder. Of course I am beside myself. I start with the basic "up up" training when I place my finger in front of him, took about three goes and he has it down pat. Then all of a sudden, he starts saying "up up". This is within a few hours of having the fluff ball.
I know, I probably breached the guidelines by taking him out of the cage before a day but I just simply could not resist. Now, I have started target training with a chopstick and clicker. He nibbles on the end, so I click and give him some millet. He stands at the cage door when in his cage saying up up all the time now, i of course adore this behaviour and want it to continue, but will it continue. Oh and my wife is bonded to it to, fluff ball flies between me and her plays with our hair etc, its very cute. What are your thoughts, I have had a life of parrots, but never for very long, I have given them to other people as I did not do the research in my younger years. But now I have spent hours upon hours reading and watching videos to learn the proper way, and I am particualrly confident.

Thoughts or suggestions are appreciated.

Oh, and by the way, I got the breeder to ween Bert onto Vetafarm pellets, he is eating like a horse. I mean like a hell of a lot!!! He is always got his head in the food bowl. I provide carrots, corn, pumpkin and sweet potato and mixed berries so far.

Ok, so things are going well, Target training is going well. Now, he is always prancing around the door of the cage wanting to come out. I open the door and he flies straight to my shoulder or head. Is this a good thing? Or should I train him out of the behaviour? He doesnt sing/sqwalk very much. He isnt saying anything really more than up up all the time. He is loving uncooked brocolli, grapes, spinach, rockmelon, mixed berries. I put an amount of pellets in his food bowl with about quarter a teaspoon of Trill Small Parrot seed. Am I doing it right? He is very happy, when I go out I leave a radio on for him, he has more toys than all of us put together which I rotate around his cage. Where abouts do we buy them little shreddable foot toys, they appear to be made out of cane or something similar. He loves shredding them, I think I got mine free with a few things I bought off the internet. It took a while to get him to like his play gym, but he has it down pat now. Although, when I walk away he flies over to my shoulder again!! I need to stand there and play with the toys with him, then he is content. Any suggestions?

Here I am, making him veges for the next few days, and he decides he wants to taste test before I put them in the freezer! Cheeky Git!

For your info, I put the following ingredients in a steamer:
Cauliflower
Brocolli
Spinach
Sweet Potato
Carrot

Steamed for about 15 minutes, mashed (not too much) then put them in ice cube blocks.
He seems to be a fan at this stage!
