Fish and Chips, Green Cheek Conures
So, after having gotten our Fish past August, we decided to introduce him to a little pal for some company during the hours his humans have to work. Meet Chips, our brand new 13-week-old pineapple. The introduction hasn't gotten nasty so far, Fish is more shy than the newcomer and is so focused on us that he gives him the cold shoulder..but after leaving their sight (but not vicinity) for a couple of hours, there have been some hesistant approaches. Chips seems quite a friendly, laid back fellah! Let's see how they will get along, we are very excited... :) :) Something we wanted to share with you guys! :gcc: :gcc:

I'm sure the experts will speak up outlining the best way to introduce an additional bird into the home but two things come to mind ...

They should not be in a cage together right away, if ever.
As you put it, it can "get nasty" or worse.

Next, the new bird should be quarantined before they are in contact.

Agree with above. Minimum 30 day quarantine would benefit all involved. Even if Chips is from a reputable source.

If they were my birds I would IMMEDIATELY get the new one out of that cage! You could also potentially damage their future relationship if you botch the introduction. Just throwing them together in the established bird's cage has a HUGE potential to botch the introduction.

The fuzzy hut, they are very dangerous as over time the fuzz builds up in crop and kills them.
Congratulations on your new baby! Both are beautiful.

Congrats on your new addition! It may take a few weeks for them to get acquainted. The previous posters all have good advice, and want you to benefit from the previous experiences of others.
