Connor - Sun Conure
Hello. This is my first post. Since I brought a Connor home I haven't seen him drink or go near his water. I know he drinks when I'm not watching but I had a Budgie and my aunt cockateil that were in the water all day. Is it typical for Sun Conures to not spend allot of time at the water bowl? Also he is really quiet. He only squeaks if you try to pet him. Will he start chirping and whistling more often as he gets older? He is 8 months.

As a new bird, it will take some time for him to adjust to his surroundings. Give him some time, and you'll undoubtedly see some changes.

Yea he may change as he gets older. The new surroundings can be the cause of him being quiet. But I would rather have a quiet conure then a noisy one for sure....lol....Cause conures can really scream none stop....

As long as he knows there's water available, he will go for it. Is he on pellets or is he is seeds? Feeding him fresh fruits and veggies yet?

He has got seeds, brown pellets, dried fruit, fruit loop looking pellets, and a fresh food spot for greens. Hes gonna get soooo fat. I looked up more and it looks like he is molting. That may be why he is quiet. I am playing bird sounds on youtube for him to listen to.

He is all good. He drank and played in his water for a good ten mins today.

See he's already playing with water..... :)

Don't you love seeing them drink? I always watch my bird drink. As he is always hanging on me, he usually gives me some kind of indication he's thirsty, so I grab his water and let him drink.

I found that he is unsure of hopping from place to place so I got a few more perches and a ladder. Silly bird afraid of falling.
