New bird question

I am getting a crimson bellied conure in about 5 to weeks. I will be keeping the new bird quarantined in another room for about 30 days(or however long the vet says). What is the best cleaning process to keep both birds healthy? Should I do this any time I go from room to room even if I don't handle CJ, my current bird?

Maybe someone can help you better with quarantine protocol. To start, if you have long hair, tie it back and try not to let your new baby touch it. Then wash hands/arms and change clothes between rooms. When you launder clothes, wash with hot water.

Very cute bird! Will the breeder be doing a vet check before it comes home? You will still need to quarantine it, but a clean bill of health from a reputable AV may help put your mind at ease.

CJ stays I'm my bedroom with me. How much problem is that going to cause with she and my clothes in the same room, although my clothes are in plastic drawers in a shelf in my closet

I guess it depends on how strict a quarantine you are after. I really don't know strict quarantine protocols to advise you.

I would think since CJ has been with you, you are protecting her from possible diseases from your new baby. So your clean clothes are in the "safe" room.

Consider the clothes potentially contaminated when they touch your new birdie's cage, toys, and of course new birdie. Also consider your socks stepping in areas where food and dropping waste are. Change them after these interactions.
