So my baby WF amazon just came in last night. He had a long day on a flight, new home etc. He's doing this weird yawning thing? He opens his mouth really wide. Is this stress?? I'm just worried bc my last bird did this and he would vomit, he was very sick too. This bird appears healthy otherwise. Droppings look normal, is eating. I just would love some advice?????

He is just exhausted I am sure, the long flight, new home, new surroundings, I am not surprised.
I have never seen a parrot yawn the way Mishka yawns, OMG it looks too terrible LoL. He continues yawning, about four or five times, one after the other.

Yeah that's what this one does too. I'm glad it sounds ok. I'm probably over paranoid after my last bird!! Thanks!!

Congrats on your new baby. :) What did you name him/her?

Give him plenty of time to settle in. Long flight, new home, new surroundings, new sounds...new everything. He is definitely still quite stressed, and probably doing the stress yawns. My DYH did those when he first arrived, too.

Best of luck with him, and we'd LOVE to see some pictures of your new baby. :D

If the baby is used to drinking from a water bottle instead of a bowl, how hard is it to switch them?

Is it stress yawns? A sign of being tired? Rearranging the contents of the crop? Or trying to equal out the air pressure between the ear drums and the air around the bird?
