Hello all , we have officially chosen a noble macaw to join our flock!

she is not yet ready to come home yet but i wanted to ask a few questions that google couldn't answer.

First i wanted to know whether female and males had different temperaments and what not, and secondly is there a better pellet for macaw/conures. i currently feed my meyers roudy bush, but i want to know if certain brands were better for different species.

Also, we have no idea for names yet! give any ideas! help us out with names the best part!!~:green2:

I've only played with one of those little guys. Very similar to Hahn's in personality. I don't know if the one I played with was a male or a female, but I seriously doubt there are any significant differences between the sexes.

The only comment I do have, is they have a beak like a sewing needle. So checking the point and rounding it off from time to time is important. It can accidentally go clean through a finger or a hand when the bird is stepping up, if it's allowed to have that sharp point. (I say this from experience. The bird stepped up as gently as can be, but the point of that beak went through flesh like a hot knife through butter. Wasn't the bird's fault. The bird was still a baby.) So, that's a grooming issue with these little guys.

As for which brand of pellet is better, that's a matter of opinion.

I feed mine zupreeme, even though it gets knocked for the sugar content. Because they eat more than they throw.

A pellet is only nutritious if the bird actually eats it... if the garbage can eats more of it than the bird - well...

I don't rely solely on pellets anyway. I feed a variety, so anything they actually eat, that doesn't have to be forced on them is good as far as I am concerned.
