So I found a breeder in Wisconsin that has a baby white bellied caique that he is currently handfeeding. I am located in minnesota so I will be able to pick him up.
I looked at the pictures and notice the right eye. Do you think it's just the angle of the camera or does it look like a bulging in the eye?

Really cute. Good choice! I especially like the White Bellied. Eye looks normal to me.

Good !! found your caique :) Looks fine to me [babys look like little aliens for awhile]

Yea, give it a couple of weeks, they all have pretty weird looking things going on before they feather out...
OR it could be a special infrared eye locating snackies and TV remotes in the dark!?? LOL

I agree with everyone's observations (including the infrared eye; believe me, that one isn't speculation!). I think the lighting coupled with the dark background may have something to with the eye looking like it's bulging.

Much more importantly, what an absolute cutie...congratulations! Wishing you and your new baby many years of happiness! [emoji4][emoji4][emoji4]

PS Eliza isn't too happy with RavensGryf's expressed preference for White Bellied caiques... [emoji53]

He's so cute! When will you be picking up your new friend? Have you chosen a name for him or her?

i love caiques, esp white bellied. they are so cool. but its true, baby caiques give me the creeps. always have.

Picking up in two weeks or whenever he's weaned. Already sexed to be a boy. Haven't decided yet on a name. When I was going to get a amazon I had the name echo picked out but since I'm getting the caique I just can't think of a name. Throw out some ideas of a name if you have one.

Many congrats on this sweetie!!! What a precious baby boy!! :D

As for throwing out name ideas, I plead the 5th....I am truly worthless when it comes to cool names. :54:

Yea I also have a hard time. I usually don't like human names for them so I try for names from other languages or just a characteristic they have. I also like a name that flows. Something unique. I guess I'll have to wait and see him before he can get a proper name.

But it made Henry smile right? ;)
Both kinds of Caiques are such uniquely colored parrots with the white fronts and green backs. Beautiful birds :)

I am having a difficult time naming my sun conure. i even made a post asking for suggestions. i'm pulling my hair out. Good Luck ^^

Eliza says "Nice save...give me a banana chip and all is forgiven!"
:D

On the subject of names, that's a tough one. Given that my two are Eliza and Henry, it may sound funny for me to say this, but I actually prefer not to use "human" names for pets. But with Eliza and Henry, it was pre-ordained, I suppose.

Eliza was originally "Ezra" when I got her. At the time, she was an approximately three year-old rescue, who was assumed to be a boy, but hadn't actually been sexed. When the DNA test result came back, I changed the name to Eliza as it had similar sounds to her original name, but is more feminine.

When I got Henry last year, naming him--as I already had Eliza--was kind of a slam-dunk. I'm never one to overlook the very, very obvious!

I finally thought of a name for him after visiting him over the weekend. His name will be"Leo". Because the zodiac leo just describe him so well
