Hiya all :), am a newbie to the parrot world and really excited, we purchased our first african grey today, we got her from a reputable breeder, with dna certificate, hatch certificate, she is a dream.

Things wat worry me is, what can i clean my floor with in my living as i no some things are really not nice for them, should i cover her cage at night when i go to bed,

any other advice would be great, i have ordered parrot books i am awaiting the delivery of them.

Any name suggestions would also be nice, she is a female,

Many thanks look forward to reading other threads x

Hi PL and welcome to the forum, congratulations on your new fid(fid=feathered kid), greys are great birds, hopeing to add one to my family soon as well, you have to be very careful when it comes to using cleaning chemicals around birds as they have a very delicate respiratory system, stay away from things such as pinesol or lysol, if you can get away with just using clean warm water that would great,or even one of those floor steam cleaners, you can even add some grapefruit seed extract also known as GSE it will help in cleaning and also help sterilize the floor, basicly stay away from anything that gives off fumes or a strong odor, a great book (don't take offence) for those new and old to being owned by parrots is "Parrots For Dummies" lots of great info for begginers and the experienced alike, hope that helps, good luck with your new baby, enjoy your stay :)

Welcome to the forum...I have a CAG and I absolutely love her.

I think you should name her Jane.

Good advice above about cleaning products.

Hey there, welcome to the forum.

I also have a CAG and its name is Sushi, trust me you'll have a blast with your grey especially when she starts talking. The thing about greys is that they get jippery and freak out easily, how old is she? if she's still young like2-6 months, try to introduce her to a new thing everyday, a new food, a new toy, a new person, etc.

Cant wait to see some pics of your new grey.

Have a good one

Yes very important to expose your bird to new things every day. They can be big things like a new person or vacumme cleaner, hair dryer or small things like a pen, pencil, flower, vase and the list goes on and on. Please read up on the nutritional needs of the greys as they need more calcium than other birds. I send yu a like for education. Happy to have you here.
