Hi everyone. I am a previous member who hasnt been on in a long while. My name is Dusty and I have the previledge of being the bird dept. manager at a local, family own pet store. I'm not going to say this store has been or is currently perfect. However, I came back to work for them because I believe they want to be everything you don't expect from a pet store. One example of this is that the new owner spent over $200 on a vet bill for cockatiel who hurt its wing. We paid $20 for the bird and will sell it for $100. We are going to lose $80 on the bird. The point is, that the owner will not sacrifice humane treatment of our pets for profit. How do we stay in business, luckily injuries and illness are rare.
I'm very good with all pets including birds. I don't pretent I know everything and will very much apprieciate your input.
Currently I am trying to find a quality home for a lovely little Goffins! His owner got him a few years ago when he was 22! Long story short her doctor told her to get rid of the bird due to breathing problems
It's a bummer, but it's not my deciscion to make. What I can do is treat this little guy like a star and do everything I can to find a forever home. It's a challenge, but I love my job.
That's all for now!
