I should probably post this to one of thos crazy conure threads but none on the active page right now....

so I was laying on the floor watching something on my phone when my youngest, General Zod thought....those look like treats (skittles candies).....

Before I realized she put her head in the bag and grabbed a green one.

I.....

Swear.....

To....

God!!!!!!!

It was like chasing a chicken around a barnyard....

She din't bite into it, but she was licking/tasting it on the outside and even after I caught her I had to pry it out....

So yeah, do not eat candies around a young conure.

Seriously it took me like a minute or two to catch her...and normally I can't get her off of me.

I feel your pain. Same thing happened to my husband and Ollie with a coffee bean. Thank goodness he didn't bite into it or we'd be going to the ER.

Seems that each conure have own trigger.
I can't eat a carrot with my parrot :D
Literally. I must hide, if don't want to be bitten.

Trigger always tries to steal my carrots too. Nevermind that I put plenty of carrots in his dish, noooooo... he wants MY carrots, not his!

Skittles took off with a piece of bacon a while back and wouldn't give it back, I had to chase him around the apartment with it in his beak. I actually had to 'scare' him in order to get him to drop it. lol.
Lately, he's been burying his head in my bowl of Cheerios and crushing them into powder. He won't eat them though. He will take a 'wet' one and 'suck' the almond milk out of it. lol. The vet says he can have unsweetened almond milk and he likes it.
Can't say I'm surprised about the Skittles candy. Who can resist Skittles? lol. Believe it or not, I'm not a fan of the candy- I much prefer Reeses pieces, but that would be a nightmare for Skitty- peanuts? ha, talk about opening a can of horror! lol.
I do wonder why a green cheek conure would grab a green Skittles candy. Hmm. lol

That is too cute, lol! Remi likes to steal plain tortilla chips. If he hears us opening a bag of it, he goes nuts.

If you care about your or your bird's health never eat any candy, white flour, white rice, or any processed food.
........... oh never mind.

Pleasure first, health second ......... or 99th, if not 99999999999th.

Just eat and old food, or any old endorphin-producing crap that makes you feel good.
Apparently all that matters today is instant gratification and pleasure.

"Never eat anything around a Conure...Especially a Green Cheek Conure"...

I don't know how Bowie isn't the biggest, fattest Green Cheek in the world...

If you guys think a little bitty green cheek is bad, try eating around an Amazon. They won't just steal a piece if they want something, they will take it by force if they deem it necessary.
